Every review here was written by somebody with a Hostello account who enquired and stayed. An owner can reply once and can never delete one, and we do not write any of them.

Hostello only lets a student review a hostel once they hold a confirmed or completed enquiry there, and nobody has reached that point yet. Rather than fill this page with samples, it stays empty until the first real one arrives.

119 listings in the directory carry a rating from before Hostello kept reviews on the site. Those numbers came across with the listing and its description quotes them, so removing them would make the listing contradict itself. They are not reviews, nothing on this page counts them, and there is nothing to read behind one.
A listing says so on its own page too, so a score with an empty review list is never left to look like a missing list.
How reviewing works here
You can review a hostel once you hold a confirmed or completed enquiry with it, and you get one review per hostel, which you can edit later. An owner can reply once. Neither the owner nor Hostello can delete a review, and we remove one only if it names a private individual or contains a threat.
Students can flag a review that is abusive or fake. A review that collects three flags is hidden from the site and from the listing average while a person reads it.
